Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that are essential for our physical and mental health. Since our body cannot produce these fatty acidson its own, we rely on dietary sources to get the required nutrients. Cold water fatty fish such as mackerel, tuna and salmon are excellent sources of Omega-3s. Other sources include flaxseed, canola oil, broccoli, cantaloupe, kidney beans, spinach, grape leaves, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, and walnuts.

According to experts, Omega-3s can boost the immune system and can help safeguard us from many diseases. Omega-3 encourages the production of body chemicals which help control inflammation in the joints, the bloodstream, and the tissues. American Heart Association recommends that those with heart disease should get 1 gram of omega-3s per day, preferably from fatty fish.
